Here is the scoop on our escapades in Southern Cal…

Ed and I have loved spending time with the kids! As well as eating great food with the family! No worries, we’ve continued to work on the tour in between having a little fun.

On our first evening off, we went to the beach of course! What else would you do in SoCal? Juju showed her expert skills on the boogie board and I simply refused to leave until everyone agreed upon riding the roller coasters! There’s nothing better than family, fun and laughter filling the evening air.

Here’s where the “work” part comes in, even though I can hardly call it work because I love it so much. We hosted our L.A. Show at the The Queen Mary, the venue was spectacular, the audience gracious and we all just laughed and had a good time.

Can I tell you how amazing our models were? We had a perfect 18 month old boy and a newborn just four weeks old! WOW!

Okay, so maybe some of the Puc’ kids ditched on the show to ride roller coasters at Knotts Berry Farm… but who can blame them? Except my eldest Katie, she has become the sales associate extraordinaire!

After the show it was time to pack it up and get straight to bed! We made it to our pillows at about 1:00am in preparation to be back on the road at 4:00am! Yes, off to the land of trolley cars, sourdough bread and the Golden Gate Bridge!

Good to be back home

Well I guess some rest is better than no rest.

After visiting 15 cities in 20 days, I’ve finally returned home upon wrapping up the DSLR Video Workshop Tour over the weekend in Seattle.

Though I had an unbelievable time exploring the world of fusion photography, I am absolutely thrilled to be back home in sunny Colorado. I hear that it’s been raining quite often here the past few weeks, so I guess the sun was just waiting for me to come back home to show itself (just kidding, of course!).

Hard to believe, but I have only 28 days until heading right back out on the road for my next tour, Creative Edge Kids: Baby Boutique and Kids Couture, which kicks off in Denver June 29.

Now that the crew and I are back home at the studio, we’re taking the day to do some spring cleaning to prep for the upcoming kids tour. Because we’re between tours, right now parts of the studio look like a bomb just went off. (Good thing those areas are well out of sight from clients.) Thankfully, I have my amazing family helping me get things organized!

Speaking of my family, they have decided to become gypsies and join me on out tour for this first time ever this summer! With this being my third tour this year already, words can’t express how excited I am to be able to have them with me.

I’m so excited to spend time with them. With several sight seeing adventures already planned, this is shaping up to be the best tour experience ever!

Great Start to the DSLR Video Workshop!

It’s official: The DSLR Video Workshop is off and running!

It's not too late to register! Use the discount code SAN11 to get $20 off your ticket.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended last night’s workshop in Denver! This workshop is definitely much more intimate and personal than any tour I’ve done in the past, which is really awesome because it allows students incredible access to share ideas with Jared Abrams and me.

Last night we spent a ton of quality time answering questions and passing around some really cool gear. It was really exciting seeing everyone’s lightbulb turn on as we discussed the future of the photography business.

Also, a big thanks to all my fantastic sponsors who are making this workshop possible: B&H, SmugMug and Silverlake Photo Accessories!

In case you’re still on the fence about attending this workshop, here’s a sampling of what people are saying about last night:

“This is a true subject specific workshop, an intense immersion into the use of equipment, workflow and how to market. Would you rather be ready for the next twist in portrait photography or ahead of the pack? Something for those new to using video as well as the experienced! I learned a lot! Thanks Sam!” – Stephanie Conrad

We all know a photographer who was left behind when digital came into the picture. Video is the next revolution in the digital photography world. Don’t be left behind. Take this class and learn how incorporating video can help your photography business grow. I am telling all my friends about this class. It was a great learning experience. Thank you Sandy and Jared.” – Sara Karam

“It was a GREAT success. I learned more last night than from several previous “video seminars” combined. Convinced good friend and photo colleague Suzanne Shaff to sign up for your show tonight in Minneapolis. -Barry Staver

With the first workshop in the books, we made our way to Minnapolis super early this morning (3:30!) for tonight’s workshop at the Holiday Inn Metrodome. Can’t wait to see everyone tonight and do it all over again!

Jerry Ghionis’ i.c.e. Society Seminar Starts Today

Some very exciting news to pass along today!

The immensely talented and incredibly inspirational Jerry Ghionis, one of the world’s best wedding photographers, arrived at the studio today to kick off his i.c.e. Society workshop!

After the weeklong workshop, Jerry and I will be starting our 2011 Power of Passion Tour Saturday Feb. 12 at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel. I’m so excited to get back on the road! Remember, if you still haven’t bought tickets, you can save $20 using the promotional code “SAN11.”

Speaking of the tour, prior to starting his workshop, Jerry and I stopped by a sound studio today to record some captivating audio bites for some promotional tour material. (Sorry for the grainy photos. They were taken with a camera phone.)

If you’ve never had the pleasure of hearing Jerry speak, then you’re honestly doing yourself a disservice. His energy is through the roof, and of course, his knowledge is endless. Our studio is truly fortunate to host such a passionate display of photography.

You can really feel the electric vibe in the studio today. What a fantastic way to start the week!

This week’s workshop is extremely intimate, with a limited number students allowed in order to create the ideal learning atmosphere. Photographers from as far as Alaska made the trip here, as the seminar has been known to change a photographer’s world, according to previous attendees.

Today (Monday) Jerry began the seminar by critiquing each photographer’s work, providing helpful feedback on everything from lighting to posing to cropping.

Throughout the seminar, students will get to see Jerry in action during a live shoot at the studio, as well as one-on-one private mentor sessions with “The MacGyver” of photography.

I can’t say it enough how great it is to be in the presence of such a talented and motivated photographer. Sharing ideas with Jerry truly makes me want to push myself ever harder.
